2020 New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year!! I can’t believe it’s 2020!

I remember reading books in elementary school about technology and predictions saying we’ll have electric cars and smart phones, etc and it felt like a lifetime away! But here we are, a new year, a new decade and although everyday we wake up should be a reflection of how to better ourselves, refocus on what’s important and not take anything for granted, a milestone of a New Year really forces us to look back in thankfulness for the good times and bad and look back at how another year of our lives played out.

I shared a few of my favorite moments of 2019 on Instagram, but it was a huge year for us! At the same time, looking back it feels so exhausting haha! It feels like Season One of Two…so many things started yet haven’t fully unfolded yet. It’s been a hustle of a year breaking ground on our house and working tirelessly to finish it, graduating Nurse Practitioner school, passing my state exam, getting pregnant with our baby boy and just hustling to finish this house already haha! Looking back at 2018, these were all things we dreamed about, in 2019 they turned into a reality, and in 2020, God-willing, they will be a whole new chapter of blessings we will get to enjoy.

There are so many things that come in mind when I think of resolutions/goals but honestly with so many new chapters we are about to open, we’re really just ready to go along for the ride and enjoy life a bit since its been such a busy, nonstop work kind of year! There are a few things that come to mind that I’m ready to get back into….

FITNESS GOALS

I maintained a pretty regular workout routine over the years. I would fall off the wagon every now and then for a few weeks, but overall felt like I was pretty consistent working out and it felt SO good! As soon as I hit the morning sickness, that went down the drain and after with trying to finish the house, it became so hard to remain consistent. In fact, I can count on one hand the amount of times I worked out since being pregnant and I sure do miss it, but at this point not trying to push it and just remain active as much as possible and save all the usual weights and workouts I’m used to until after baby. We have several beach/vacations planned in later Spring/early Summer with my brother graduating medical school and my sister getting married, so you better believe this mama is getting her booty back in shape ASAP as soon as I get clearance.

HAVE A MORNING ROUTINE

Every year, I want to be a morning person, but with my work schedule and both of us being late night owls, it always fails. Now with baby on the way, I’m sure our schedules are going to be turned upside-down all together, but I want to focus on getting up when the alarm rings and get my day started with prayer and reading the Bible even if it’s just ten, twenty, thirty minutes. Now, I wake up, snooze, getting caught in a rabbit hole of checking/answering emails, checking social channels, planning out my day and then find my self stressed and more tired from staring at my phone that by the time I get up and going I feel like my mind is in a million places and still have to go back to get to the emails I didn’t answer or hurry up and run out of the house to whatever appointment/errand I have.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MRSSIMPLYLOVELY.COM

I have been running this blog for almost 4 years and so grateful for it and all of you that support this little corner of the internet. I started it as a hobby and never imagined it would turn into a little side gig or that I would still be doing it 4 years later! I absolutely love sharing so many chapters of my life with you all, favorite purchases, and just all the girl talk that goes on around here. I want you to always know that it’s a highlight reel and I always try to share positive things and things that I feel like you guys would find helpful. Don’t ever compare yourself to me because I assure you, my life is not perfect, but as with so many things, if I can do it, you can too! I had so many messages this year of girls going back to school because of me or finding the perfect dress for their baby shower or wedding because of things I shared which means the world to me and what keeps me showing up here everyday! I want to help make life a little easier for you all even if it’s just finding that last minute outfit and push you to reach your goals whether that’s going back to school, planning to build your dream home or even something as simple as learning a 5 minute hair tutorial.

I have plans to revamp my blog this year to make things easier to find since you can expect lots of baby and house content this year- don’t worry! Fashion is here to stay 🙂 Also, I am striving to post on the blog every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so definitely keep checking back here for those!

SELF GOALS

So many things come to mind, but I want to focus on bettering my relationship with God, my husband and of course being the best mom I can be. Life is so much more than “material things” and I want to soak up every bit of it.

I pray nothing but the best for all of you in 2020 with lots of health, happiness, and strength to get through any hard times that come your way. I want to end this post with two of my favorite verses that’s such a great reminder no matter what chapter of life you’re in:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:8-9

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
