France Travel Diary & Outfit Details

Looking over all our Europe pictures makes me miss it so much! One of our favorites from our trip was exploring the countryside of France. From Paris, we took a train to Geneva, Switzerland to make it to my husband’s cousin’s wedding. We went to bed a good bit past 3 am in Paris and had to make our train that left around 6 in the morning. Needless to say we were both exhausted. The train ride was a couple hours long. We wanted to stay up and watch all the pretty views, but after we ate the breakfast they served us, we were out!

Once we got to Geneva, we walked to Starbucks (praise Jesus they had one haha!) and then to my husband’s uncle’s house. By then it was time to get ready for the wedding which was located in Saint Sixt, France at a breathtaking wedding venue called Le chateau de Saint Sixt (about a 45 minute drive from Geneva). The wedding was perfect!

THIS pic on my Instagram was the view behind us during the ceremony that I didn’t include here. The wedding lasted about 10 hours (12 actually but we ended up leaving early). After the short ceremony, for about four hours everyone ate, chatted, and played outdoor games while people came serving us with appetizers and drinks. Then we had dinner inside the chateau which lasted until about 1 am. By then, I don’t think I have ever been so tired, but it was honestly such a lovely laid back wedding. We had such a great time.

Instead of going back to Geneva that night, we spent the night at a hotel called Les Afforets. It was only about a ten minute drive from the wedding and in the cutest little town called La Roche sur Foron.
This picture above was the view from our hotel (Les Afforets) window.
And some of the goodies from Boulangerie Baty (where we had coffee & breakfast):
After breakfast, we walked around La Roche sur Foron. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of everything! It was the cutest little city surrounded by mountains that reminded me of romantic movies filmed in the olden days. Here are some pictures:
This castle above is called La Roche-sur-Foron Castle. It was closed by the time we got there, but you can climb it to see this view from above:
We spent a few hours taking in the gorgeous view, but seeing the Parc Du Chateau De L’echelle was by far my favorite of them (heart eyes all around):

I loved reading this post. I am from Ohio but we are stationed in Charleston right now. We have been for 5 years. I have 2 kids under 5 and it makes it so hard to enjoy down town but we love it for sure.

Charleston is beautiful! I can definitely see how it can be hard to enjoy it, but I'm sure your kids will have such great memories living there!
